Prayer Vigil for Peace in the Middle East
Last Sunday evening we gathered to pray for peace in the Middle East. The following is a modified version of a prayer template and request from the churches in Israel, the Palestinian territories and Gaza for prayer. It was a wonderful night, where we formed our own personal prayers and surrendered them to Christ. We would understand as a peace-loving community that the partisan politics being carried out in our media and community is concerning and disheartening.
Spaces and Places from Egypt
Recollecting walking the streets of Cairo, I remember the noisy music of the people, cars, motorcycles, donkeys, the market, the music and the songs of Om Kulsum on the radio.
Our Prayers for the War between Israel and Hamas
I’m sure if you are watching the 24-hour newscast you will be shocked, dismayed, and desperate for the children in Gaza and the ongoing war which seems to be without end between Israel and Hamas.
Prayer of Examen
We have been exploring the kindness and goodness of God amid our personal lives which are full of challenge and difficulty amongst the joys. Many of us have unanswered prayers and yearn for greater blessings in our lives. But how much of God’s love and blessings do we miss in our daily struggles?
Healthy ageing - Intergenerational relationships
So, what is our own experience of friendship across the intergenerational divides. Do we have many quality friendships with people older than ourselves? in what ways are our lives enriched by such interaction? What gets in the way of meaningful contact with those older than us?
SOS - A call for the Church to recover
Last week I explained what I believe to be the two main values of a Christian community (that is a church). In summary, a true church is both authentic and an alternative community.
Down but not out
Although My dad passed away last year, We – the next generation are carrying on his spirit. The spirit of never giving up on our dream. A dream of a white dove, a sunflower, a warm cloud, a better life :), DOWN BUT NOT OUT.
What is the true nature of the Church? What is a Missional Church? Why is it even more relevant today?
In my view, no church is truly a church, unless it is missional. By that, I mean it is both authentic in its understanding and behaviour towards God, community, and the world, whilst at the same time alternative, acting as a light to shine on injustice and championing care to humans and the planet.
